abbott_john John Abbott is Founder and Chief Analyst for 451 Research, where he covers systems, storage and software infrastructure topics and over a 25+-year career has pioneered specialist technology coverage in such areas as Unix, supercomputing, system architecture, software development and storage. One of the cofounders of The 451 Group in October 1999, Mr Abbott ran analyst operations in the company's San Francisco office. He has been a principal author on many 451 Special Reports, including those on storage virtualization and blade servers – the first comprehensive surveys of either subject to be published. Mr Abbott began covering the technology sector in 1984, building on his previous experience as a technical author and direct involvement using mainframes, early PCs and Unix workstations. As a freelance journalist, he contributed to publications including Computing, Computer Weekly, The Financial Times and The Times. In 1987, he was appointed Editor of ComputerWire's weekly Unix newsletter, Unigram.X, and later became Editor of the company's daily Computergram International service.
Abboushi_Tarif Tarif Abboushi is Vice-President of Data Center Infrastructure at NTT America, Inc. He has been involved in the evaluation, acquisition, design, construction, testing and commissioning, maintenance, operation and greening of mission-critical facilities for almost twenty years, either as a consulting engineer or with a data center owner/operator. Mr Abboushi holds a BSEE from Manchester University (UK) and a Master’s in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University.
abramson_christy Christy Abramson is a Technical Director at AOL, managing the Core Services Application Operations organization that is responsible for maintaining AOLs critical host systems, including Identity & Infrastructure Services, Billing, and Paid Services Operations. Ms Abramson also manages a team of Service Delivery Managers, who provide a communications and outreach interface among the various Operations, Engineering and Product groups. With over 15 years of Internet and telecom experience, Ms Abramson has also served as a Client Software Analyst at MCI Communications Corp and as a Product Manager at Cable & Wireless, supporting the product development teams on their consumer internal dial initiatives.
Aladhi_Sunil Sunil Aladhi is a Data Center Technical Architect for HP's Enterprise Group, India Research and Development Labs, Bangalore, with 13 years of experience in the IT Industry. He worked closely with R & D engineers to reproduce defects and resolving them. He has in-depth knowledge on virtualization products and server architecture. He helped several customers as a Virtualization Evangelist in APJ region to implement virtualization solutions in their mission critical environments. He took up the role of a technical architect in the data center transformation team and is responsible for Virtualization and Cloud services. His areas of expertise are server and storage architecture, virtualization, cloud and datacenter technologies. Mr Aladhi is an engineering graduate specializing in Computer Science.

Doug Alger is an IT Architect at Cisco Systems with more than 15 years of experience focusing on data center physical design, management and operations. He has managed about 100 data center projects, from all-new construction to substantially retrofitting existing facilities. Mr Alger produces the popular Data Center Deconstructed blog and has authored two books on data center design, Build the Best Data Center Facility for Your Business and Grow a Greener Data Center. (His third book, showcasing data center innovation, is scheduled for publication in the fall of 2012.) He also helped write Cisco’s Global Data Center Strategy and Data Center Design Guidelines documents, which define the performance requirements and design elements for its compute environments. 
 

Ananchaperumal_Dhesikan

Dhesikan Ananchaperumal is the Vice President and CTO of CA’s ecoSoftware business unit focusing on DCIM, enterprise energy management, desktop power management and sustainability management. He is responsible for the overall strategy and approach, product management, development, quality assurance, customer implementations, and supporting engineering. A 23-year industry veteran with an expertise in IT and energy management, Dhesikan has published numerous white papers and articles and is a frequent speaker at data center and IT conferences. Prior to his current role, Dhesikan was involved with Emerging Technologies, Business Relationship Management and M&A activities for CA. Prior to joining CA, Dhesikan held various management and technology positions at Netegrity, Affinnova, AMS and Infosys Technologies. Dhesikan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, a Master’s degree in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Electronics Design Technology from the Center for Electronics Design Technology, India. Dhesikan also has ISC2-CISSP, Six Sigma and ITIL certifications.

Rhonda Ascierto is a Senior Analyst in the Datacenter Technologies and the Eco-Efficient IT research practices at 451 Research, an international enterprise IT analyst firm. Ms Ascierto has been researching and analyzing at the crossroads of IT and business for more than 12 years. She focuses on data center innovation and energy management in data centers and across the enterprise, as well as on technologies that enable the efficient use of all resources and that help to minimize the environmental impact of business activity. Before joining The 451 Group, Ms Ascierto was a senior analyst in energy and sustainability IT at Ovum, a research firm. Previously, she had a successful career as an IT reporter and editor, mostly in Silicon Valley, at a number of well known and successful publications.

Trey Austin is a Partner with Data Centers Delivered and concurrently serves as Director of Business Development for Epsilon Industries, responsible for sales in the Mission Critical business segment.  Prior to arriving at Epsilon in June 2009, Trey worked as a Regional Engineering Sales Manager for Big Ass Fans, for TAS Packaged Central Plants as the Eastern Regional Sales Manager, for the Victaulic Company of America as a Territory Manager, and for the Trane Company in Commercial Equipment and System Sales. Trey is a member of the 7x24 Exchange, USGBC, and ASHRAE and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University. . When he is not traveling or working to reduce his golf handicap, you will probably find him supporting one of the LSU Tiger athletic programs.

Bailey_Mark Mark Bailey is a Senior Architect for Dell’s Modular Infrastructure Solutions group. He holds a mechanical engineering degree, an MBA, and has over 13 years of experience in the data center and computer hardware industry. He has led projects and engineered solutions ranging from IT hardware to modular data center design. His experience allows for a fully integrated perspective when architecting customer solutions. As an engineer and architect he has led many design projects for customers deploying modular solutions in various regions within the United States and around the world. Mr Bailey has experience in mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls solutions which are required in architecting, building, installing, and deploying data center solutions.
Baxter_Bruce Bruce Baxter is the Vice President of Operations for NxGen Modular. Mr Baxter has 30 years of experience improving the efficiency of field operations, production, safety, training and quality assurance. He oversees all of NxGen's current and future projects.
Bednar_Ron Ron Bednar is the Director, Solutions Marketing, Liebert Business, Emerson Network Power. He focuses on programs to enable customers to easily configure and implement efficient and economical data center infrastructure. His responsibilities include product development, channel support, application engineering and tools development.
Best_Christiaan Christiaan Best, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Green Revolution Cooling (GRC), is a former Senior Engineer at Bell Helicopter. His first startup, E-Forensics (Founding Partner), was acquired in 2005. Most recently he was the lead HVAC engineer at Microstaaq. Mr Best holds a BS and MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
bonaro_paul Paul Bonaro is the Data Center Facilities Manager at the Yahoo! Data Center in Lockport, NY, since it opened in 2010. In this role, Paul is responsible for the development and deployment of the operations and maintenance strategy for Yahoo!’s first data center to utilize 100% free cooling in all conditions. In addition to operational responsibilities, his team is directly responsible for collection and analysis of data that will influence existing operations company-wide as well as future design and implementation efforts. Paul has over 12 years of experience in leading facilities operations in enterprise-level data centers. Previously he has held similar positions for EMCOR Facilities Services at Credit Suisse and Amazon.com.

Kenneth G Brill is the Founder of Uptime Institute and the Uptime Institute Network in North America and EMEA. Many data center industry innovations over the last 25 years trace back to his original concepts including dual power, the industry's Tier system for evaluating and classifying data center facility performance, and IT/facility energy efficiency and productivity measurement. Mr Brill's research into the Economic Meltdown of Moore's Law, Data Center Productivity and Energy Efficiency, and IT's declining economics form core knowledge is needed by corporate leaders charged with business performance, profitability, and sustainability.
Brooks_Carl_RGB_SM Carl Brooks is an Infrastructure Services Analyst with 451 Research, covering cloud computing and the next generation of IT infrastructure. Previously, he spent several years researching and reporting on the emerging cloud market for TechTarget. Mr Brooks has also spent more than 10 years supporting small and medium-sized businesses as an IT consultant, network and systems integrator, and IT outsourcer. He specialized in server and desktop operations, Linux and Microsoft products, and security, and has thorough knowledge of hardware platforms and networking technologies as well as significant experience working with the channel market. Mr Brooks holds two BA degrees from the University of Massachusetts-Boston. 
brown_bobby Bobby Brown is Vice President of Operations and Support at GoGrid. He started with ServePath (GoGrid’s founding company in 2005) and has been working in the high tech / internet since 1996, where he quickly found that working in leading edge technology was his calling, making GoGrid a natural fit. Working for startups such as North Point Communications and Google as well as larger tech companies such as SBC (now AT&T) and Nortel Networks, Mr Brown brings a good blend of work experience that helps companies run efficiently while still being able to scale properly. Mr Brown is also an avid tennis player, which allows him to exert some of the stresses of running two 24x7 departments which require and maintain 100% uptime. Traveling the globe and music are two other hobbies which keeps him on his toes. Most will agree that Mr Brown leads by example by creating a hard working yet fun work environment.
Kevin_Brown_headshot Kevin Brown is Vice President, Data Center Global Solution Offer Management for APC by Schneider Electric. Mr Brown is an experienced industry professional in both the IT and HVAC industry. He has 13 years experience at APC in a variety of senior management roles, most recently as Vice President, Marketing for the Data Center Solutions, Services & Software Line of Business. Previously, Mr Brown served as Director of Market Development at Airxchange, a manufacturer of energy recovery ventilation products and components in the HVAC industry. Mr Brown holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Cornell University.
bucsi_andras Andras Busci is Design Manager for Mercury Engineering Russia.  He studied in the Technical University of Budapest, and Dresden where he received his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation he joined Siemens Elin (B&I) as Mechanical Engineer, where he was involved in large-scale commercial and industrial projects in Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, and the Russian Federation. He joined Mercury in 2008 and since 2010 has led the in-house design team, where he's been involved in numerous design and build projects for critical facilities for international banks (Morgan Stanley, Unicredit Bank, Sberbank, Deutche Bank, EBRD), and other blue-chip clients (HP, Dell, Shell, BP, Siemens, GE, Johnson &Johnson ). In 2011, the data center Mercury built for DSP received Uptime Institute TIER III certification, the first in Russia.

cantrell_michael Michael Cantrell has been involved in the design, implementation and certification of information transport systems for 14 years. Michael has been responsible for over 750,000 square feet of data center infrastructure deployment and 1,200,000 square feet of campus and office environment backbone and structured cabling. With travel and experience in 84 countries, Mr. Cantrell has been recognized as an industry leader in the areas of data center relocation planning, network design, data center layout, and network infrastructure integration.
Carr_Nick Nicholas Carr writes about technology, culture, and economics. His most recent book, The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains, was a 2011 Pulitzer Prize nominee and a New York Times bestseller. Mr Carr is also the author of two other influential books, The Big Switch: Rewiring the World, from Edison to Google (2008) and Does IT Matter? (2004). Mr Carr has been a columnist for The Guardian in London and has written for The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Wired, The Times of London, The New Republic, The Financial Times, Die Zeit and other periodicals. His essay “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” has been collected in several anthologies, including The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2009 and The Best Technology Writing 2009.

cenizal_david David Cenizal is a registered professional electrical engineer with over 12 years of industry experience, including data center design and construction, semiconductor fabs and utility substations. While at Facebook, David has been responsible for the design and construction of new data center facilities and supporting facilities operations. Prior to joining Facebook, David worked at Cupertino Electric, Inc., where he engineered over 70 MW of critical data center infrastructure across the US for many of Silicon Valley's industry leaders. In addition to data center experience, David is a LEED-Accredited Professional dedicated to incorporating sustainable technology into all of his projects.
Cole_David David Cole is the Founder, President and Chief Technical Officer for No Limits Software, a technology company focused on data center management solutions. He is a data center management and education consultant for PTS Data Center Solutions. He also teaches a Data Center Infrastructure Management course for Global Knowledge. He was the founder and software architect for The Advantage Group, which was acquired by Aperture. He has also held positions as the President of the real-time monitoring division of Aperture Technologies (a division of Emerson Network Power), Senior Software Engineer at Emerson Electric, Information Technology Manager at Contel, Director of Research and Development at Systems Enhancement Corporation and Director of Software Engineering at Tripp Lite.He is a Certified Data Centre Professional through ICOR (The International Consortium for Organizational Resilience), a Microsoft Certified Professional Systems Engineer and is also certified for ITIL version 3.  
Compiano_craig Craig Compiano is Chief Executive Officer at Modius and an entrepreneur with extensive management experience and a track record for developing successful businesses. He brings to the company and the industry 30 years of experience in Business and Systems Development, Operations and Finance. Mr Compiano's prior accomplishments in software development for large commercial and public sector clients during his tenure at Andersen Consulting led to his current concentration on operational systems and performance analytics for data centers, and the founding of Modius.

Cook_Gary Gary Cook is a Senior IT Policy Analyst with Greenpeace International, currently focusing on encouraging global IT/ICT brands to increase their own clean tech investment and to advocate for policy change that will drive clean energy development. Mr Cook has worked in the climate change and energy policy arena for the past 15 years and has extensive knowledge of the key policy options and greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation strategies being used at each level of government and within major business sectors, particularly the electric power sector. Crawford_Tim Tim Crawford is an internationally renowned thought leader in the areas of IT transformation, innovation and cloud computing. He has served as CIO and other senior IT leadership roles with global organizations such as Konica Minolta/ All Covered, Stanford University, Knight-Ridder, Philips Electronics, and National Semiconductor. Crosby_Chris Chris Crosby is a recognized visionary and leader in the data center space, and founder and CEO of Compass Datacenters. Chris has over 20 years of technology experience and over 10 years of real estate and investment experience. Previously, Chris served as a senior executive and founding member of Digital Realty Trust. Chris was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Digital Realty Trust, responsible for growth initiatives including establishing the company’s presence in Asia. Prior to the initial public offering of Digital Realty, Chris was founder and managing director of Proferian, a company that was responsible for marketing and sales within the GI Partners portfolio with an emphasis on technology-related leasing, including colocation. Proferian served as an operating platform for GI Partners and was rolled into the IPO for Digital Realty Trust. Prior to Proferian, Chris served as a consultant for CRG West, now Coresite. Mr Crosby received a BS degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin.

Daunert_Henry Henry Daunert is the founder and CEO of AST Modular, a leading provider of modular, secure and energy-efficient data centers. Headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, and with offices in the US, South America and Asia, AST Modular is helping several organizations minimize data center Capex and Opex through the delivery of scalable data center capacity. Henry has more than 25 years of experience in mission-critical facilities. In 1992 he co-founded a company focused on Power Quality and Electro Magnetic Fields shielding for data centers and mission-critical environments, which was later acquired by Schneider Electric, where he served as Director. He is member of the IEEE and the Project Management Institute, a trained Risk Engineer from Stanford University and also BBA and MBA graduate from ESADE Business School. Fluent in four languages, Henry is a caring father and enjoys sailing in the Mediterranean when time allows.
Davidson_Mark Mark Davidson, Sustainability Officer for JouleX, has been actively engaged in the industrial controls, IT and information security industry for more than 25 years. His most noteworthy accomplishments have come about during his involvement in successful startups that were acquired by Motorola, IBM, EMC and Cisco. Davidson has also held technology executive roles with financial institutions and healthcare organizations. Davidson’s diverse background spanning industrial and nuclear process control, information security as well as executive-level roles gives him unique perspective when assisting customers with their design and implementation of sustainable business practices around energy.
Davis_patrick Patrick Davis is Vice President of Finance and Corporate Strategy for Vantage Data Centers, where he is responsible for financial operations and strategy, including treasury, cash management, financial planning, financial reporting, accounting, tax, investor relations, human resources and risk management. Prior to joining Vantage in 2010, he served as Assistant Controller at Digital Realty Trust, a publicly held wholesale data center company, where he was responsible for global property and corporate accounting, external reporting, technical accounting, global revenue recognition, Sarbanes–Oxley compliance and finance merger and acquisition integration. Prior to that he spent five years at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, in its US real estate and technology groups. Patrick holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Oregon and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Akhil_Docca Akhil Docca is a Senior Engineer at Future Facilities where he manages all engineering activities related to applications, consulting and technical support in North America. Prior to joining Future Facilities, Mr Akhil had worked at Flomerics, Inc. as an applications engineer where he was responsible for pre-sales, Technical Account Management and business development. Prior to Flomerics, he had worked at Dell as a Product Thermal Engineer, where he designed and deployed thermal solutions for Small Form Factor (SFF) desktops.
Donathan_Brian Brian Donathan joined Teladata in 1994 and was promoted to Principal in 2000. As the Principal/Senior Project Manager, he has overall responsibility for IT infrastructure design, technical leadership for data center/mission-critical facilities and managing our project team. Brian began his communications career in research and design with electronic systems with the United States Air Force (USAF). He later went on to manage data communications, cable plant design and installation management for Information Networking Company, Inc. Brian studied Electrical Engineering at Syracuse University and the USA. He is a member of Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) and holds a certificate as a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD). 
Donoghue_Andrew_2012 Andrew Donoghue is an Analyst for Datacenter Technologies and Eco-Efficient IT at 451 Research, where he focuses on the implications of desktop and datacenter energy efficiency and power management for overall organizational sustainability. Mr Donoghue also steers 451 Research's involvement in a number of European Union research projects. Before joining The 451 Group, Mr Donoghue worked with several leading technology and environmental publications as a writer and project consultant, specializing in Green IT and related technologies. He has also held senior editorial roles at a number of business publishing companies, including CBS Interactive and Incisive Media.
Duquette_Remi Remi Duquette is the Director of Business Development at MAYA HTT. Count on Mr Duquette when it comes to mission critical systems. He has been instrumental in designing and analyzing structural components of four successful spacecrafts currently orbiting the planet.

He has 25 years of experience leading sales, marketing, and engineering organizations in Information Technology (IT), Commercial Electronics, and Military markets. Mr Eacueo has an expert level of technical knowledge with racks/enclosures and critical power and cooling applications in data centers. He has a BA in engineering sciences from Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH, and a BE in mechanical design from Dartmouth’s Thayer School of Engineering.

Julie Edwards is a Senior Business Manager at AOL, Inc. where she leads the Business Services team focusing on large programs and initiatives spanning the Technology Operations organization. Over the last 16 years at AOL, Ms Edwards has provided support for varied initiatives including network re-architecture, PCI compliance, regulatory compliance, and Live Help. She has a B.A. in Communication from the University of Oklahoma. While living in the Wild West she learned the art of lassoing rogue servers. Ms Edwards is active in the performing arts in the Washington, D.C. area and sits on the Board of Directors for the Master Singers of Virginia.

Christopher Eldredge joined Telx in February 2011 as Senior Vice President and GM of Product & Services. Prior to joining Telx, he served as the Executive Vice President of Alternate Channels and Carrier Services at Broadview Network, where he held profit and loss responsibility for $300 million in annual revenue. Prior to that, Eldredge was Corporate Vice President of Carrier Sales & Service at Frontier Communications, where he had full P&L responsibility for $585 million in annual revenue. In addition, he led the wholesale, buy-side due diligence on the $8.6 billion Verizon Communications transaction, and was responsible for the due diligence and post-sale integration of the $1.16 billion dollar Commonwealth Telephone acquisition. In his first role at Frontier, Mr. Eldredge was the Vice President of Marketing and Product Development, guiding the execution of the company's commercial marketing and product strategy for small, medium, enterprise and carrier customers. Mr Eldredge was also an Executive Director at Cablevision Lightpath. He holds a MBA from Dowling College, a MA in Public Relations and Advertising from New York Institute of Technology. He received a BBA in Marketing from Hofstra University.

federspiel_cliff_2012 Cliff Federspiel, PhD, is the Founder, President, and Chief Technical Officer of Vigilent. Dr Federspiel is a leader and visionary in the field of energy management. He is the recipient of the Ralph G. Nevins Physiology and Human Environment Award from ASHRAE, and holds numerous patents in the field. Dr Federspiel began his career in R&D at Johnson Controls after receiving his BSME from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, and his SMME and PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He later joined the University of California, Berkeley, as a Specialist at The Center for Environmental Design Research and the Electronics Research Laboratory. Dr Federspiel launched Vigilent, building on his pioneering research in dynamic cooling technology and wireless networking, to address the emerging need of treating cooling and energy consumption as a managed resource. 
Finch_Paul Paul Finch is the Mechanical Engineering Director, Design & Construction, Europe, at Digital Realty. He is the leading expert for mechanical engineering having both strategic and project level responsibilities. Since joining the company in 2010, he has published a collection of European Design Engineering Guidelines and led successful projects across London, Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin and Singapore markets. Mr Finch has over 24 years of progressive experience in engineering and construction consulting, focused on commercial real estate and high dependency mission critical environments in the banking and finance, technology and telecommunications sectors. Prior to Digital Realty, Mr Finch was a Director at CB Richard Ellis, leading their London engineering consultancy business unit. He holds a BSc(Hons) in Building Services Engineering from London South Bank University, PgDip in Engineering Management from Brunel University. He is registered with the Engineering Council (UK), Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and active group member of ASHRAE Technical Committee TC9.9 - Mission Critical Facilities, Technology Spaces and Electronic Equipment.

Garrett_Tom Tom Garrett spent 29 years at Intel, managing a variety of semiconductor operations and functions. As Director of New Factory Startups, Tom provided direction of all startups at the Ronler Acres campus in Hillsboro, Oregon, which included the 200mm D1B; a large 200mm bridging facility; D1C, Intel’s initial 300mm factory and first fully automated facility; RB1, a 300mm Research and Pathfinding facility; and the 300mm D1D, his largest facility covering over 5½ football fields in size and the current home for Intel’s Logic Technology Development group. Tom directed Intel’s 300mm conversion program, an industry-leading operation, considered to be Intel’s largest and most successful wafer size conversion. His understanding of the challenges to startup of industry critical facilities led to breakthrough cost reductions in factory construction and equipment installation that became the standard for Intel’s factory programs. Tom developed the conceptual idea and secured initial funding for Intel’s newest high density data center complex, one of the world’s highest density data centers.

Prior to Tier1, Daniel led global peering efforts at America Online and served as a nuclear engineer in the US Navy. He has served as the finance chairman and as a member of the program committee of the North American Network Operators Group, the professional association for Internet Engineering. Grahn_Chris Chris Grahn, Director of Global Data Center Operations, brings over 20 years of computing and data center technology experience to ServerCentral. As Director of Data Center Operations, Grahn is responsible for staffing and training at multiple facilities, documenting new procedures and systems, inventory management, performing audits, quality control, and maintaining top-level customer support. Mallick_Dhiraj Dhiraj Mallick is corporate vice president of AMD’s Data Center Server Solutions business unit. In this role he is responsible hardware and systems engineering and fabric-related solutions. Mallick joined AMD in 2012 via its acquisition of SeaMicro where he lead hardware engineering. Previously, Mallick was vice president of Engineering at MetaRAM, a VC-backed semiconductor startup, where he delivered into production two generations of products in 30 months. Previously Mr Stanley was a project manager and researcher at the Uptime Institute, where he worked with Institute founder Ken Brill on data center efficiency publications and original research. He has also prepared Institute contributions to industry input for US Department of Energy data center efficiency initiatives and has worked in the energy efficiency consulting practice at Rocky Mountain Institute. He holds an MS degree from the Energy and Resources Group at the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in physics from North Carolina State University.
Stansberry_Matt_RGB_SM Matt Stansberry, Director of Content and Publications for Uptime Institute Professional Services, has reported on the convergence of technology, facility management and energy issues in the data center since 2003. He launched SearchDataCenter.com in 2005 and managed that site and multiple other Tech Target properties as Editorial Director of the company's data center and virtualization media group.  He is currently developing unbiased, actionable resources for data center owners and operators to improve data center management, address changing regulations, and to advise on new equipment and standards. Additionally Stansberry is responsible for expanding the Uptime Institute’s outreach to other industry organizations and assisting in the content development of events, such as the Uptime Institute Symposium, and a new series of multimedia presentations on pressing industry issues.
Stokes_Andrew_2012 Andrew Stokes is the Chief Scientist of Deutsche Bank’s Group Technology & Operations division. He is responsible for long term strategic planning and technology research for the Bank’s data centers and enterprise infrastructure services. Mr Stokes also acts as technology advisor to the Bank’s front office divisions, assisting clients with technology strategy and development opportunities. Mr Stokes is a strong advocate for the transformation of business through disruptive technology innovation. He has key interests in enterprise cloud computing, eco-efficiency, and alternative technology architectures. Mr Stokes is a key contributor and board member in the Open Data Center Alliance, working on cloud computing and open data center requirements development. He also has influential positions in The Green Grid and the TM Forum Enterprise Cloud Leadership Council. 
STrong_Robert Robert Strong, PE, is Owner/Partner, Critical Facilities Technology [CFT] and focuses on Design and Implementation of Electrical and Mechanical Systems to support Critical Installations. Before starting CFT, Mr Strong was a Project Manager for Frank Electric (Cupertino Electric) in Milpitas, CA. Prior to his time with Frank, he was a Navy Nuclear Power Engineer on the USS Carl Vinson Aircraft Carrier and Lead NETA Acceptance Testing Engineer with Electro-Test Inc. (EPM) for the Silicon Valley Area. Mr Strong has taken a number of volunteer Missions trips overseas to help build and train people in Third World countries, most recently spending two weeks in Sierra Leone West Africa. When not working on or modifying a car or motorcycle, he can be found with his wife and two children snowboarding or riding ATVs in the beautiful Colorado mountains.

Bruce Taylor is the Executive Producer of Uptime Institute Symposium 2012. A career-long print, broadcast and Web journalist, Mr Taylor has been writing, editing, publishing, and conference providing on information technology topics since the very early ‘80s. He is founder emeritus of PopTech, an annual 3-day global meeting in Camden, Maine, of people, interested in the intersection of cultures and technologies in all fields. In his 30-plus year career in computing-related journalism, he has covered mainframe computing, minicomputing, client-server, expert systems and artificial intelligence, personal computing from pre-MS-DOS platform specific all the way to Web 2.0. He was launch editor/publisher of Professional Computing and HP Professional. Among other titles, he served as Editor in Chief of Computer Graphics World, was the founding principal and editor/publisher of Imaging (and Document) Management World and Knowledge Management (KM) World and was producer of their companion conferences and trade expositions.

Taylor_Jay

Jay Taylor’s career in technology is distinguished, with tenure at companies such as Texas Instruments, Datapoint, AT&T, Dell and Schneider Electric. Jay attained his Bachelors of Science Degree from Texas A&M University and is a proud member of the Aggie Class of ‘77. Jay serves a number of industry leadership positions: Chairman of the ENERGY STAR Working Group, Chairman of The Green Grid Liaison Committee, Vice Chair of NEMA 1PE Section, and nominated for JTC1/SC39 Chairman Sustainability for and by Information Technology.
Brad_Thrash_GE_Digital_Power Brad Thrash is a Product Manager at GE Energy’s Digital Energy Power Quality business, responsible for the 3-Phase UPS product line globally. He has over 25 years experience in GE power generation and power quality businesses with leadership roles in application engineering, service engineering and sales and product management. Mr Thrash has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer. He is also a member of IEEE and ASME.
Toner_John John Toner is the Principal Member of Technical Staff for IT Sustainability Initiatives at Verizon Wireless. Previously, he managed Verizon Wireless’ Irvine Data Center Tier II like facility from 1999 until the facility closed with more than 12 years of uptime in Q3 2010. A graduate of California State University, Fullerton with degrees in Information Systems and a subsequent MBA; he joined AirTouch Cellular (A predecessor to Verizon Wireless) in 1994, after a career in classified aerospace work. John has been involved in data center design, planning, and operations since 1980. He is a member of the USGBC and holds a CDP designation from the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals.
Pitt_hirez_150 W Pitt Turner IV, PE, is the Executive Director Emeritus and Senior Tier Certification Authority for the Uptime Institute. From 1993-2005, he was a senior consultant and principal for Uptime Institute Professional Services (UIPS). In that role, he guided client investment decisions, data center design and construction projects, and site operations practices for well over 100 key clients. Since 2005, Mr Turner has served as the president of UIPS and since 2009, Executive Director of Uptime Institute. He is co-author of both the Tier Standard: Topology and Tier Standard: Operational Sustainability, in addition to numerous technical and management papers.
tyndall_Matt Matt Tyndall is Executive Vice President of Site Development for QTS (Quality Technology Services). With over 20 years of mission-critical development experience, Matt leads construction and expansion of the company's growing portfolio of data center facilities nationwide. Having managed over $1 billion in data center projects in his career, Matt is responsible for the multiple expansion and new construction projects taking place at QTS. Working out of Atlanta, Matt’s scope of work includes site acquisition, design, construction and development as QTS continues to expand its state-of-the-art offerings nationwide.

Vaney_Nick Nick Vaney is a Director at Red Engineering Design. He is a chartered mechanical engineer and an Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer with 25 years’ experience in mechanical and electrical services design. Mr Vaney has extensive experience of data centers design and implementation and his innovative approach to data center design has resulted in numerous best in class and a number of award winning data centerss. Mr Vaney’s project and design management expertise of large, complex fast-track developments has resulted in the successful delivery of many UK and international projects. He has been at the forefront of energy efficient and resilient data center design for the past 20 years. He designed the UK's first hotel to be cooled by seawater and recently completed the design, monitoring and commissioning of a new data center for Capgemini, using a revolutionary modular design solution which provides free cooling for more than 99% of the year.

watts_dana Dana Watts is an Architect and Director of the Mission Critical and Advanced Technology Design Studio at SMMA. With over 31 years of professional design and planning experience, Dana has excelled in leading fast-tracked projects, while incorporating new products, technology, and trends into his design solutions. His recent data center projects include EMC’s Durham Cloud Data Center, Worcester City Campus Corporation, University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
weaver_ron Ronald Weaver is the Principal Investigator and Manager of the NASA-funded Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), University of Colorado, Boulder, CO. The DAAC is NASA's largest earth sciences data management program at the University of Colorado Boulder. The Center’s 40 plus staff manage satellite derived snow and ice data products from four NASA Earth Observing System sensors in the visible/infrared and microwave spectra. Earth scientists use these data, internationally, to monitor the Earth's cryosphere.
Webb_Steve Steve Webb is Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Ark Continuity. An experienced COO, Mr Webb has worked for over 10 years for a Fortune 500 Company where he was responsible for operations in Europe, South Africa and Japan. Mr Webb has a degree in Business Studies and trained as an accountant with Wimpey plc. He was responsible for the Strategic Planning activities of the travel company RCI when it was acquired by Cendant Corporation. Mr Webb then became CFO of Cims, a marketing company in the financial services industry, where he was responsible for all accounting, financial planning, compliance and HR issues across three continents. After a number of years in this role he was appointed COO with the added responsibility for Operations and IT. Prior to joining Ark, Mr Webb held the position of Finance and Services Director at a voice, data and telecommunications company specializing in the convergence of these technologies.
Whitmer_Doug Doug Whitmer, Vice President of Sales, joined Power Analytics with more than 20 years of executive-level sales and marketing experience in the critical power and data center environments. Previously, he served as Vice President of Sales for the Global Accounts Division of Eaton Corporation.

zadeh_Jeff Jeff Zadeh, MD, is Senior Research Director for IceCOLD and is a graduate of University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and The Alliance for Medical Management Education at UT Dallas. He has served on the Executive Committee of Dallas Diagnostic Association and as Chairman of Lonestar Provider Network. His responsibilities include developing and coordinating IceCOLD’s research projects.
