Simon Robinson
Research Director, Storage, The 451 Group
Since 1997, Mr. Robinson has scrutinized developments in the systems and software sectors of the IT industry, and he was among the first analysts to report on the emergence of technologies such as storage virtualization and Web services. Mr. Robinson has played a key role in the development of The 451's Special Reports, and was a coauthor of groundbreaking studies of the storage virtualization, blade server and distributed applications markets.
Mr. Robinson joined The 451 Group shortly after its formation in April 2000. He specializes in identifying emerging trends and technologies in storage management, such as SAN, NAS, storage resource management and IP storage; and enterprise software, specifically applications, middleware and systems management.
Prior to joining The 451 Group, Mr. Robinson spent three years analyzing the IT industry, first as a reporter with VNU's Internet IT news service and then as Senior Reporter and Deputy News Editor at Computer Reseller News in the UK. Mr. Robinson has also worked on the city desk at the UK's Press Association.
Mr. Robinson has a degree in Economics from the University of Central Lancashire, UK.
