Building an efficient data center means building a facility that runs efficiently long after it's been built. Data centers can no longer be built to static performance requirements. Instead data centers should be thought of as living buildings with dynamic performance criteria that interact with the environment and business they support. The way to respond to this set of needs is to capture a broad spectrum of information about both the facility and the business. New approaches are integrating traditionally siloed information: facility performance, energy costs, IT infrastructure and application deployment so executives can make strategic decisions in real time.
