Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), total facility power divided by its IT equipment power, Data Center Infrastructure Efficiency (DCiE), IT equipment power divided by total facility power expressed as a percentage, and Energy Usage Effectiveness or EUE, total source energy divided by UPS energy, are common metrics for measuring data center efficiency. Airflow Utilization Efficiency (AUE) measures how effectively a data center is directing its cooling capacity. Every data center manager can improve AUE through basic air direction techniques.
